A “New Brokerage Experience” for the performance boating crowd is the goal of Pier 57. Our team will provide “a new level of confidence for both buyer and seller alike."
Unlike traditional brokerage services that provide limited photos of listed boats scattered all over the world, Pier 57 will have every high-performance boat offered for sale on-site as well as many others at its 50,000 square foot indoor, climate-controlled facility, allowing for first-hand, and hands-on knowledge of each boat. But the difference does not end there; Pier 57 will provide a professional evaluation of each boat offered which will be provided for buyer and seller alike.
Each boat, motor and trailer will be reviewed on more than 250 inspection points in 15 categories--from the condition of canvas covers and tops to the suspension on the trailer, from the hull to the engine. This inspection process, performed by professional, trained service personnel, will help establish a fair and realistic up-front selling price, with a predetermined payment to the boat seller, dealer or manufacturer and an unprecedented level of information for both the buyer and seller. To verify the review, Pier 57 may personally recommend a “second opinion” from a professional boat appraiser.
Any needed repairs or refurbishing can be performed by our highly trained and Mercury certified service department at Pier 57 and paid for by either the seller or buyer. For a modest charge, each boat will be completely detailed including hull wash & wax and a thorough cleaning of the cockpit, cabin, carpet and every stowage compartment, nook and cranny.
Pier 57 will, if requested, transport boats to its Waukegan, Illinois indoor showroom for the seller and deliver the boat to the buyer at a competitive towing rate. Boats are stored year-round indoors, providing a safe, comfortable experience for the boat buyer. Boat storage will be provided free from May – September with a small, flat-fee applied for winter months. All charges for services provided by Pier 57 will not be due until the boat sells or six-months, whichever comes first.
Pier 57 will work with existing, traditional boat brokers and split commissions when necessary. Scott Sjogren and his team see the Pier 57 service as a way to offer the utmost in customer service to a broader base of high-performance boaters, as well as help stimulate new sales activity in the performance marine market. The service is extended to selected high performance OEMs and dealers to assist in the sale of new boats.
“There are boats to be sold out there,” Sjogren says, “One of the biggest challenges a consumer faces today is a seller or broker’s reluctance to take a trade to help sell a brokered/consigned boat. Our program will allow the consumer to trade-in a boat to Pier 57 and complete their boat deal, whether they are purchasing new, pre-owned or consigned boat.”
